These 5 hockey associations were chosen as the Regional Winners of a $25,000 Kruger Big Assist. Soon, you can assist in selecting which one will receive an additional $75,000 Kruger Grand Prize!

Grand Prize voting begins on April 8 at 5:00pm EST and runs until April 11 at 5:00pm EST.

The Kruger Big Assist Grand Prize is to ENCOURAGE more kids to play hockey by developing solutions that help remove barriers in the game of hockey and make the game more accessible, inclusive, and equitable for everyone.

For this milestone year, we’ve partnered with renowned Canadian athletes to celebrate the power of assists. Each athlete represents one of five regions across Canada and will serve as the community’s ambassador, encouraging Canadians to vote! Congratulations to the 2025 Kruger Big Assist Regional Winners!

Kimberley Minor Hockey Association – Kimberley, BC

The Kimberley Minor Hockey Association promotes sportsmanship, citizenship, and community through hockey, ensuring the sport is accessible and inclusive for all. The association offers financial aid, registration payment plans, and fundraises tirelessly to keep fees low, in addition to promoting female and Indigenous participation. With the Kruger Big Assist donation, Kimberley Minor Hockey aims to cover registration costs for those in need, introduce a gear buyback program and host a free Indigenous tournament to increase representation.

Leduc Minor Hockey Association – Leduc, AB

The Leduc Minor Hockey Association from Alberta is committed to offering inclusive hockey opportunities to youth in Leduc and its surrounding communities. Their “every kid should be able to play” mantra means that every family in their community is given the chance to participate in the sport, regardless of their financial status. With the Kruger Big Assist donation, the association plans to cover registration and equipment costs for families in need, as well as set up new development camps where all kids can feel included, no matter their gender, background and abilities.

North Halton Girls Hockey Association – North Halton, ON

The North Halton Girls Hockey Association is dedicated to creating an inclusive and supportive environment for female athletes in Halton Hills, Milton, and surrounding areas. Located in one of Canada’s fastest-growing communities, the association offers programs and initiatives that introduce girls to hockey to keep them engaged and motivated to play longer. With the Kruger Big Assist donation, the association plans to offer free fundamental hockey programming, subsidize registration fees and introduce translation services to ensure language barriers don’t stop new-to-Canada kids from playing hockey.

AHM St-Leonard has been a vital part of the Montreal community for over 50 years, fostering young players' skills and passion for the sport. As the neighborhood evolves, especially with a rise in migrant families, the association remains committed to making hockey inclusive and accessible for all. With the Kruger Big Assist donation, the association plans to subsidize registration fees, provide more affordable equipment, and enhance current programming to continue making the sport more inclusive for all.

Straits Minor Hockey – St. Barbe, NL

Straits Minor Hockey brings together 27 small rural communities in Northern Newfoundland, serving as the gathering place for families and kids to meet and build new friendships. Hockey is the only extracurricular sport offered in the area, with some families traveling over 40 minutes each way to get to the arena. Straits Minor Hockey aims to use the Kruger Big Assist donation to continue expanding its current offerings, set up a free used gear program and a free initiation to hockey program so that all kids in their communities can participate, no matter their financial situation.
