VERONICA MACISAAC

HALIFAX, NS
veronica macisaac

It’s arguable that no one has thrust classic Celtic tartans into the contemporary fashion conversation like VERONICA MACISAAC. When you examine the scope of her bespoke, tartan-centric creations for men and women, you’ll find everything from beautifully conceived and executed tailored jackets to remarkably alluring gala evening wear – a portfolio that now includes her Cashmere Bathroom Tissue gown, through her involvement in the Cashmere Collection 2021. Taught to sew by her mother (a noted Cape Breton kilt-maker), this Halifax-based designer has presented her clothes at both Atlantic and Ottawa fashion weeks, and her talent has been recognized in FASHION, FLARE and British VOGUE magazines.

Her singular focus on contemporary renderings of Scottish tartans has clearly informed VERONICA MACISAAC’s contribution to the 2021 NEW Belle Époque Cashmere Collection. Note the “tartan” effect of the cropped halter top and the subtle, kilt-like fringe that edges both the box-pleat mini-skirt and the waistdraped train. Veronica’s ensemble is accessorized with—what else—Scottish knots on the armband and garter.
