DISÉIYE

DISÉIYE

Having achieved a Ryerson degree in criminology and humanities, DISEIYE THOMPSON did a volte-face into fashion. Their first collection in 2016 was their graduate collection from the fashion program at Toronto Film School. Ever since, inspired by everything from the exuberance of ballroom culture, to the colours and patterns of their native Nigerian heritage, to their admiration for fashion genius Alexander McQueen, this Toronto-based designer has been producing dramatic, red carpet-worthy clothes under the DISÉIYE label. “Now I want to try more contemporary things,” Diseiye says, making the leap into designing for the Cashmere Collection 2021.

There’s drama to spare in DISÉIYE THOMPSON’s boldly contemporary take on the Belle Epoque hourglass silhouette. Their dreamy gown features intriguing, intricately intertwined, asymmetric volumes of luxurious Bathroom Tissue “fabric”, punctuated with sprays of pink tulle and pink rhinestone accents in recognition of Cashmere’s decades-long support for breast cancer research.
