Lesley Hampton is an award-winning Anishinaabe fashion designer focused on mental wellness and body neutrality through the lens of an Indigenous worldview. Recognized by Vogue and Forbes 30 Under 30, she has dressed icons including Nelly Furtado, Lizzo, Lily Gladstone, and Sandra Oh. Hampton’s wearable art is a part of the North American permanent exhibit at the British Museum in London, U.K. She aims to decolonize Eurocentric standards while creating space for empowerment and representation in fashion, media, and beauty.
Garment Inspiration
Inspired by Lesley’s grandmother’s experience with breast cancer, the gown reflects the emotional highs and lows of that journey. The drapes mirror the way life shifts unexpectedly, while moments of openness speak to vulnerability and strength existing at once.
